Not really a handy man, but during these economic-nervous times, when my kenmore ice maker stopped working I thought i’d do some google trouble shooting and try it myself (it looked like it would be easy once I diagnosed the part). The problem I had was getting the part locally. I started this on Friday and the best I could do locally was $108 with a pickup of the following Wednesday. I had been browsing earlier that morning and I was thinking more like $40-50. I ordered the part late on Friday from Appliancezone.net for $26 (with shipping). On Monday noon it was in my mailbox, popped out the old part and popped in the new and was back in the ice making business. The rest of the family was unphased but I was happy that I only shelled out $26.

Works
Ice maker in my Kenmore Elite stopped working. It did not appear to be the water line as there was ice inside the tray when I removed it. Plug shows 96v so it appeared to be getting power. Only thing left that has any control was this part. Replaced it and the ice maker started working right away. This was also about $50 cheaper than any other appliance part place I checked out.
