5 Preventative Maintenance Steps That You Must Follow

Cleaning trash compactors at your house is a pretty easy task. To help you out, we are going to share the five important steps that you must follow while cleaning them.

#1. Always Unplug The Electrical Outlet: Before you start off the cleaning process you should always remove the power plug. To do this, you can just pull out the plug from the socket and then start cleaning the interiors of the compactor.

#2. Start with Trash Bag: The trash bag is an integral component of the trash compactor. So, while you are cleaning the interior section of the compactor, first remove the trash bag and release all the dirt, dust and debris that surround the bag. When you are doing this you can even check if there are any broken lids or glass or any other things which are blocking the opening of the unit. Cleaning such materials is essential, as if these materials stay inside the compactors then it can cause trouble later on.

#3- Spray and Clean: Make a cleaning solution with the help of mild detergent and warm water, Transfer this solution into a spray bottle. After that, spray this solution evenly across the interior walls of the trash compactor. You can even let this solution stay on the walls for a few minutes so that they can penetrate inside and kill all the microbes or bacterias present inside them.

#4- Dry Wipe: To remove the detergent solution that you have used for cleaning, you can always use clean cloth and dry wipe the applied areas of trash compactor. For this, you can even use paper towels and just wipe them and let the interior section air dry.

#5- Essential Replacements: There are many trash compactors that come up with air filters. So, while cleaning your appliance you can always replace them so that it can work in a better way. However, if you don’t have air filters in your appliance then you can just sprinkle a pinch of baking soda right at the bottom before placing a new trash bag inside the system.
